Who's Behind Alt+Tab Life?

Hi, I'm Mark, the human behind the blinking cursor. I’m a tech enthusiast, part-time overthinker, and full-time tab juggler trying to turn my digital clutter into something useful.

I started Alt+Tab Life as a side quest—a place to explore productivity tips, experiment with tech tools, and occasionally document my attempts to live a more intentional, less scattered life. This isn’t about being perfect. It’s about progress, transparency, and laughing at the mess in between.

If you’ve ever opened 15 tabs trying to fix your focus, accidentally built a Notion dashboard instead of doing the actual task, or hit “Start Pomodoro” just to scroll memes, you’re in the right place.

After five years in the Marine Corps, I transitioned into the electrical construction world—and it’s been a crash course in learning how things get built (and how not to panic when they don’t go to plan).
At Gurtz, I’m currently working on my first large-scale commercial project, gaining hands-on experience with project coordination, field operations, and all the logistics that happen behind the scenes to make the lights come on (literally).
I’m being trained across estimating, procurement, and project controls—and somewhere along the way, I started getting obsessed with the systems and tools that make all of it more manageable. Hence, this blog.

In the Marines, I worked admin—but not the “push paper and chill” kind. It was fast-paced, high-stakes documentation and organization in support of real-world operations.
I learned how to stay organized under pressure, how to make things work even when they’re broken, and how to operate like an adult long before I felt like one.
That foundation is what got me into my current role and fuels a lot of what I explore here: systems, discipline, adaptability, and occasionally yelling at my to-do list like it owes me money.
